Why Would I want A Children's Entertainer?
Let’s be honest your typical wedding is a long day for most children. If you think about it, they will be leaving the house in the morning and won’t get back until very late at night. No matter how well behaved the children are, there is a very good chance they will be restless. Having a kids entertainer will keep the kids entertained during key parts of the day.
It will allow them to burn off some energy and in turn this will lead to them being better behaved. The children are entertained, the adults are without worry, everyone's a winner! You may be thinking when is the best time to hire a children’s entertainer.? There are two times throughout the day that work really well.
1. During The Lull And The Speeches
Most brides and grooms will have their speeches at the end of the Wedding Breakfast. This is a time that children will misbehave as they have been sitting down for a couple of hours and beginning to feel restless. Trust me, we know what it's like! The last thing you want at your special day is for the speeches to be interrupted by children crying, shouting and what other mood they may be feeling. Therefore this is a great time to have an entertainer take the kids to one side for a couple of hours. With the entertainer keeping your children's attention occupied elsewhere, there will be no interruptions during the speeches and throughout the lull when the room is getting turned around. The entertainer will keep your children for up to two hours and by the time they're done, the evening reception will kick in and the kids can go and enjoy the rest of the evening. 2. During The Evening Reception
If you have a separate area away from where the main reception is taking place, an entertainer can easily set up a mini disco and bring the kids there. This will allow the adults to chat, drink and dance without worrying that their kids are okay. While the adults are enjoying themselves, the children are having a great time away in their own separate party room. No downside at all!
Important Things To Consider!
Despite the great features discussed prior, there are also some important decisions to consider if you are going to hire a kids entertainer for your wedding. Just a few things you need to make sure of before you book. Firstly, check that your entertainer has experience working at weddings. You may think it's identical to performing at an average party, but they are far different then you initally believed. Secondly, make sure your entertainer can work with a large amount of children. There may be many children at your wedding and while it's not a problem for us, there are some entertainers out there who will only perform for a certain limit. Crazy, right?
Building onto our previous point, check that your entertainer can work with a wide variety of ages. Unless you live in some weird time loop, there are going to be mixed ages and some entertainers are intimidated by this as they only know how to perform for a specific age range. In short, it is important your entertainer can cope with this. Moving on from one of our previous points, check that your venue has an area for the entertainer take the kids into. It's far easier to be in a separate room than the same room with the rest of the adults.
Lastly, make sure your entertainer has PLI Insurance. Most if not all wedding venues will insist on this and believe it or not, a lot of entertainers do not have up to date PLI Insurance.
