Why Are Time Slots So Important?
Many kids entertainment companies will tell you that booking a morning or afternoon party is better for you - the parent. While this is in many ways true, there are a few different reasons why booking a morning party or an afternoon party is the better option. The real reason is that a 12 p.m to 2 p.m or 1 p.m till 3 p.m or even in many cases, a 2 p.m to 4 p.m, is known as a "Day Killer". In other words, it is impossible for an entertainer to book more than one kids' party in a day if they book a party at one of those times. Think about it from an entertainer's point of view: if you book a 1 p.m till 3 p.m party, when will that entertainer schedule another party? It generally takes fifteen minutes to half an hour for an entertainer to set up their equipment and another half an hour to pack away. Furthermore, you have to account for travel times between parties. Unless someone is planning a 9 a.m or 11 a.m party or a 5 p.m to 7 p.m party, then there is nothing the entertainer can do to cover Day Killer slots.
Most childrens entertainers are full time and want to book as many parties in a day as possible. This is totally understandable. After all, Saturdays and Sundays are most entertainers' busiest days and therefore, they want to maximise their earnings on these days. Kids entertainers are not going to want to ‘kill their day’ and they will either turn you down or try and convince you to move your time to benefit everyone.
