How To Run A Kids Party On The Cheap | Children's Entertainment

Updated: Aug 25, 2023

Non-Stop Kids Entertainment is one of the largest children’s entertainment companies in the UK. We perform at over 8,000 parties a year and we highly recommend our services to ensure your kid's party is a success without a hitch! We can literally come to your venue and run the whole party, you just feed the kids and hand them their coats on the way out.

Running an Affordable Kids' Party | Children's Entertainment on a Budget

However, sometimes we hear from parents who just haven’t got a budget. They can’t really afford to have a professional entertainer to attend their party but they still want to make sure their child has a fantastic day. That's okay! There are several things you can do to make sure that your event is a massive success, even if you are working with a really tight budget.

What Can Parents Do?

In this blog, we are going to go through a few ideas you can use on your child’s special day that won’t cost the earth. These ideas will help you give your child’s friends the WOW Factor even without hiring a professional entertainer. We want to assure you their experience is amazing and memorable!

Run A Pizza Party

This option is great for older kids and won’t cost very much at all. The idea is simple: just invite kids around to your home and get them to make their own pizzas from scratch, including the dough and the base. The great thing about this idea is that you don’t need to organise party food. After they have made the pizzas, they get to eat them and who doesn't love pizza? The only downside is that you will need to limit the amount of kids at the party unless your house has an industrial sized kitchen! Nevertheless, when in doubt, pizza fixes all!

Organise A Treasure Hunt!

This is another party you can run in your house while saving money on venue costs. The concept is easy as pie. All you have to do is plan an elaborate treasure hunt starting with a clue that leads to another clue and another, etc. At the end of the treasure hunt, all the kids win a prize. This is a great idea with younger kids and a great way to promote the importance of teamwork. You can even theme the treasure hunt to a particular theme. It could be a dinosaur treasure hunt or a space treasure hunt. The options are limitless and kids will love the adventure!

Have A Sleepover!

Imagine you are 7 years old. Can you think of anything more exciting than getting to stay up late with all your friends? Once again it’s a great way to save on the cost of hall hire. In fact, there are virtually no costs other than having to buy a large amount of snacks! If it’s an all girl party, having a sleepover is a great option for parents on a budget!

Host A Game's Night!

Most children love computer games and would like nothing better than to spend hours playing on them. With this in mind, why not turn this into an actual party? You can set up your Playstation/Xbox or similar consoles in your house and invite a few of your child’s friends over. You can then arrange tournaments against the children and host yourself as the Game's Master. It’s a lot of fun and something different. Once more you save money on hall hire but you can’t really invite more than ten kids. Any more than ten children and it becomes unmanageable.

Have A Teddy Bear’s Picnic!

This option works great for younger children, especially during the summer when the weather is high. The idea is that you are going to arrange a teddy bear’s picnic. This can either be in your back garden or in a nearby park. Each child brings their own teddy bear and you sit around having a picnic. Afterwards, the children can run around and play with their teddy bears. Of course, this usually only works better for younger children but it’s super fun and only costs the price of a picnic! What’s not to love!?

Have a movie night!

The concept behind this is simple. Pick out a couple of really good films that your children love and turn your living room into a cinema. It doesn’t cost much to really go to town. You can even buy little popcorn boxes from Amazon and then invite the child’s friends round for a night at the movies. This is a really great option and kids love walking into a room that has been transformed into a cinema. You are not limited with how many children you can invite but you are limited by how big your living room is!

Host Your Own Bear Making Party!

If your children own stuffed toys, they will love Build A Bear. The problem is once you have all the costumes, boxes and other accessories, it can cost £50 or higher. Our childrens entertainer offers a DIY Bear making party package using Teddy Tastic bears which are better quality than Build A Bear. You get 10 bears, 10 hearts, 10 stuffing bags and 10 certificates.

You also receive a 45 Minute video going through a step by step tutorial on how to run your own teddy bear party, including what party games to play and how the party should be structured. All of this is only £129 and will work for 10 Kids (although you can get more bears if you want. If you don’t want to have an entertainer but still want to do something that the kids will remember forever, this is a great option.

Have A Football Party!

This runs the same way as the games party. You are going to go down the park and organise lots of football games with your child and their friends. You can start off with football skill games and then move onto actual competitive games. For older kids, this is super fun especially if your child is into football (and who isn't!) The key thing is to make sure you plan the structure beforehand and don’t wing it. Make sure you know what you are doing and when. If planned and executed correctly, it’s a lot of fun!

Conclusion!

The bottom line is there are lots of options if you want to plan a kids party and you are on a limited budget. Without sounding biased, we think the best option is to book Non-Stop Kids Entertainment, however there are other options out there. One thing you don’t want to do is book cheap children's entertainment. We have a separate Blog about why this is dangerous.
